An original Spanish-American War soldier's casket/coffin plaque. Excellent condition. Measures 9-1/4" x 5". Weighs 160.7 grams. Acid tests as sterling silver. Plaque is hand engraved "Hubert T. Forney / Co F 50th Iowa / Died Sept 13 1898 / Aged 18 Years". Soldier died while in service (from disease). Through reasearch we found the soldier was actually 16 years old when he died, so we assume this one was a mis-engraved.
