The Sooners were lead by legendary coach Bud Wilkerson and quarterback Jimmy Harris. The team featured All-Americans Tommy McDonald and Bo Bolinger and future All-Americans Clendon Thomas, Jerry Tubbs, Bill Krisher and Ed Gray. The Sooners defeated the Longhorns 20-0 in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas.
